This is the seventeenth version of the Masterpiece jet mold. I’m not going to go into detail on the mold as I have done so many times. For more info please see my previous reviews of Masterpiece Starscream (Japanese, MP-11), Masterpiece Thundercracker (USA), Masterpiece Acid Storm (USA), Masterpiece Sunstorm (USA), Masterpiece Skywarp (Asia, MP-11SW), Masterpiece Starscream (USA), Masterpiece Thundercracker (Asia, MP-11T), Masterpiece Ramjet (Japanese, MP11-NR), Masterpiece Sunstorm (Japanese, MP-11S), and Masterpiece Thrust (Japanese, MP-11NT). In the photos he is pictured with Starscream (MP-11), Thundercracker, (MP-11T), Skywarp (MP-11SW), Ramjet (MP11-NR), and Thrust (MP11-NT).
Dirge is repainted and remolded from MP-11 Starscream, which was repainted and remolded from MP-3 Starscream. He has new wings and weapons. Also of note is that he has the same guns as most of the releases of this mold. Thrust, you may recall had guns that folded up under his wings. Like Ramjet, Dirge’s weapons enclose his guns under his wings. I love the look of the new wings. They are not one piece. The small front wing is hinged to swing back and away from his arms in robot mode.
Overall: Dirge is a must. AS this is now the seventeenth use of this mold, I don’t want them to ever use the jet mold again, unless they want to do a translucent Ghost of Starscream. They did one using the original MP-3 mold. I would love one from the MP-11 mold. I also kind of hope Hasbro does Skywarp as a Toys R Us exclusive. We have not got Skywarp in the USA from the MP-11 mold. At some point when I have time, I am going to get all seventeen of them out for some photographs.
Thanks for reading!
