Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015) Activator Combiners Wave 2 (Sideswipe with Great Byte)

Calling these guys combiners is a bit of a stretch. They are more like a cross between G1 Powermasters and Targetmasters, There partner activates their transformation and then turns into a gun. There is a button that can activate transformation if you don’t want to attach the toy. They really aren’t combiners in any normal sense. Also, they will only partially transform when the partner is attached or the button pressed, so it’s an interesting gimmick, but far from perfect.

Sideswipe & Great Byte

Great Byte is okay. He appears to be a World War 2 fighter jet. His gun mode isn’t bad. Sideswipe is a pretty cool. He looks good in both modes, though he looks silly with Great Byte on top of his vehicle mode.

Overall: While not a bad toy, I can’t say that anything from this line is at all impressive.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
