Transformers Kre-O Micro-Changers Series Two (Acid Wing, Arcee, Blight, Bulkhead, Groove, Hardshell, Hoist, Lugnut, Perceptor, Powerglide, Scourge, Vehicon)

Here are my previous Transformers Kre-O reviews, 2011 sets, and 2012 sets, Micro-Changers Preview Series, Micro-Changers Series One, the Toys R Us exclusive Ironhide, Beast Hunters sets Mech Venom Strike, Dragon Assault, Battle Net Bumblebee, Beast Blade Optimus Prime, and Ripclaw Strike, and Micro-Changer Combiners, Bruticus, Devastator, Predaking, and Superion.

First off, it should be noted that Hasbro finally figured out that veering up the artwork on the Kreons chest and torso was really stupid.  NONE of the twelve toys in this wave have the art covered up.  It’s just unfortunate that they didn’t figure this out before we got so many toys that are completely ruined by shoddy design.

Acid Wing

The jets always look pretty great in both modes, and Acid Wing is no exception.  Not sure why they didn’t call him Acid Storm though, especially since they are releasing Masterpiece Acid Storm, there doesn’t seem to be any need for the name change.

Arcee

Like almost all Kre-O Micro-Changer vehicles, Arcee suffer from front wheels that are held in her hands.  Otherwise, she’s decent.  Her robot mode looks great.

Blight

The fifth member of the yet to be released Abominus set, blight looks decent in both modes, but you can only do so much to transform into a creature.

Bulkhead

Bulkhead, who seems based on Transformers Prime Bulkhead, has one of the better vehicle modes.  He’s bulky like he should be.  I just wish instead of giving him arm cannons, which of course, Bulkhead didn’t have, they could have given him his mace weapon.

Groove

The fifth Protectobot is one of my favorites in the assortment.  They did a really clever job with his legs in vehicle mode as you can see, having one hang down while the other holds the rear wheel.  Very cool robot mode as well.

Hardshell

Hardshell, who’s face is clearly meant to be Bombshell’s, has one of the best beast modes.  He looks really great.  In robot mode his face is really nicely painted, but unfortunately his helmet covers a lot of it up.

Hoist

Hoist is another vehicle that looks pretty good even though he holds his front wheels in hands.  They did a nice job making his tow arm.  His face doesn’t look much like Hoist’s, but his robot mode is otherwise nice.

Lugnut

I really like Lugnut in both modes, but his coloring does not match any previous version of Lugnut.

Perceptor

kreomcw2-17

kreomcw2-18

Perceptor’s robot mode is really nice.  Unfortunately, his robot mode looks like a decapitated robot sitting down legs splayed.  That’s probably because that’s what his microscope mode is.

Powerglide

Powerglide is among my favorite Micro-Changers in the whole line.  He looks great in both modes.  I especially like the way they did the tail of the plane, with a part across the bottom of his feet to hold them together.  N many of these it’s hard to get the legs to stay in place.

Scourge

kreomcw2-21

I am surprised.  They really did a nice job on Scourge.  He looks very much like the G1 (in so much as a Kre-O can).  They just left out his face on top.  He has a really nicely painted face.

Vehicon

Vehicon is okay, but nothing special.  Typical vehicle, very plain.

Thanks for reading!

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
