Before I get to the specifics, you can read my thoughts on the Bot Shots concept here and the online video game here.
One general note about these. In the 3-Packs that came out previously, in each series of two 3-Packs there was one Super Bot (Chase figure). This was pretty stupid since one figure out of a box set of three can’t be any harder to find than the other two in the set. It seems someone at Hasbro figured this out, as the two Super Bots are numbered with the rest of the toys in the 5-Packs rather than separately as Super Bots.
Transformers Bot Shots Autobot Polar Assault Team 5-Pack (Mirage, Jetfire, Optimus Prime, Ironhide, and Bumblebee)
The Autobot Polar Assault Team is made up of five arctic (blue, white, gray) repaints of Mirage, Jetfire, Optimus Prime, Ironhide, and Bumblebee. There is one interesting thing with Optimus Prime. As I recall, none of the previous Super Bots had any paint apps on the vehicle (just on the robot faces). The Optimus Prime Super Bot has his cab painted white. Now, I see why they did it. There already was an Optimus Prime Super Bot in blue, but they could have done him in white and done Mirage as a blue Super Bot, which would have made sense given his ability to turn invisible. That would have made perfect sense, so of course, Hasbro didn’t do it.
Transformers Bot Shots Stunticons 5-Pack (Dragstrip, Brake-Neck, Motorbreath, Dead End, and Breakdown)
The Stunticons set uses the three Dark of the Moon Wrecker molds for Brake-Neck, Breakdown, and Dead End. Dragstrip is made from Jazz. Motorbreath is a translucent purple repaint of truck Megatron.
Both of these sets are nice, though the Autobot set shows the problem of them having a limited number of mold options. I suppose they could have used the jet modes to do Aerialbots, but I can’t think of another doable options with the available molds.
