Blog #3036: Toy Review: Transformers: Lego Soundwave with Laserbeak and Ravage

Transformers: Lego Soundwave with Laserbeak and Ravage

Laserbeak

Laserbeak’s cassette mode is better than most recent Hasbro cassette modes. He looks great in robot mode. His weapons are separate accessories, not built into him, just like the original toy.

Ravage

Like Laserbeak, Ravage’s weapons are also separate accessories. He looks great in both modes, though I don’t love the cassette design. His folded legs at the corners don’t really stay in place very well.

Soundwave

Cassette Player Mode: Soundwave looks amazing. They did an incredible job on his design. His tape door actually opens with a button on his shoulder. He has a sound chip with sound effects and voice clips activated with his play button. I was wondering why he was so damn expensive, and the sound chip is why.

Robot Mode: Soundwave looks great in robot mode. I love the design of his legs. His feet don’t just fold in over his shins, a series of hinges collapse his shins inward as you close his feet.

Overall: I recommend Soundwave, but at $180, he is really expensive. Might be worth waiting a while or even going with a knock off.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
