Blog #232: Toy Reviews: Transformers Kre-O Toys R Us Exclusive Ironhide w/G2 Devastator Kreon

Transformers Kre-O Toys R Us Exclusive Ironhide w/G2 Devastator Kreon

Here are my previous reviews of the 2011 and 2012 Kre-O sets and Kreo Micro-Changers Series One.

After all the 2012 Transformers Kreo sets came out, Toys R us got an exclusive version of Devastator.  It included a building set Ironhide and instead of the green G1 Devastator Kreon, it included a yellow G2 Devastator Kreon.

Outhouse and Driver

I really don’t know what to say about this.  Though it does make me wonder something.  In the G1 cartoon, when Spike went to Cybertron, what did he use for a toilet?  On second thought, I don’t want to know.

G2 Devastator Kreon

While it is a nice repaint, nothing really special here.

Ironhide Building Set

Ironhide has a great head sculpt.  In robot mode he is pretty well proportioned, though his arms are a bit long.  His vehicle mode has a lot in common with the new Transformers Prime Kup (who was originally supposed to be done in red as Ironhide).  Very nice, but since I had already bought three Devastators, having to buy two more really sucked.

I’ve seen very little of the 2012 Kre-O on the shelves, as opposed to 2011 when the shelves were packed until Christmas when they sold.  Since they first came out, I don’t think I’ve been in a single store that has had all of this year’s sets in stock.  I’m thinking these newer sets have a lower production run, or were at least less was ordered.  TRU has had them at buy one get one free for a while.  I keep expecting to hear Kre-O is canceled, but it looks like they are sticking with it.  A teaser image was seen online for GI Joe A Real American Hero Kre-O.  These should be seen at NYCC.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
