Blog #1995: Toy Review: Transformers: Generations: Retro Headmasters Deluxe Class Mindwipe

Transformers: Generations: Retro Headmasters Deluxe Class Mindwipe

A few words about the box. It’s gorgeous. A beautiful G1 box complete with box flap. When I saw pictures, I was thrilled that they were finally reissuing the G1 Headmasters! Then I realized what was actually in the boxes, and I was distinctively less excited. Having said that, at least they are repainted and not the same toys in new boxes.

Hasbro used the G1 toy accurate heads from the Transformers: Legends line, but they used the more G1 accurate paint jobs.

Previous Mold Use: Titans Return Deluxe Class Mindwipe, Takara Legends Deluxe Class Mindwipe, Takara Legends Deluxe Class Convobat

I never liked the Mindwipe mold, but he does have a more G1 accurate paintjob. I still can’t believe they gave him that awful soft plastic bat head.

Overall: If you have this mold and aren’t a completist, then you can probably skip Mindwipe, unless you just want to display him in the awesome box. If toy accuracy matters to you, or if you don’t have Mindwipe, this is a great opportunity to pick him up for $20.

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
