Previous Mold Use: The Last Knight Leader Optimus Prime, Movie Advanced Armor Knight Optimus Prime, Platinum Edition Leader Optimus Prime, Age of Extinction Leader Optimus Prime

Calibur Optimus Prime

Calibur Optimus Prime is a significant remold of Movie Advanced Armor Knight Optimus Prime, who was himself a remold of Age of Extinction Leader Class Optimus Prime. He has a new accessory, an axe, which is pretty cool. In robot mode the original toy had a “backpack” that included the rear bed and wheels of his truck mode as well as his running boards and fuel tanks. This entire assembly has been turned into a removable accessory that transformers into his shield. Consequently the shield is heavy and he can’t stand up holding it without moving his feet apart. The toy has a major design flaw. In robot mode he is supposed to be able to put his weapons on his back and then plug in the shield on his back. I can’t get it to stay on unless I remove the weapons. The peg is too small (or port too big). I like the paintjob on this version, but Armor Knight Optimus Prime is still my favorite version of this mold.

Overall: The backpack issue aside, he’s highly recommended.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
