Blog #344: Toy Reviews: Bot Shots Dragon Track (Optimus Prime and Megatron)

Before I get to the specifics, you can read my thoughts on the Bot Shots concept here, the online video game here, and the new 2013 Bot Shot types.

The track is a joke.  It’s just a straight track with a launcher at each end and a dragon that you can spin around in the middle.  One of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.

These are our first look at Flip Shots Optimus Prime and Flip Shots Megatron.  Optimus is okay in vehicle mode.  He’s not as nice as the Spin Shot version.  I’m not sure what Megatron is supposed to be.  Is he a car?  Is he a plane?  Is he a car with wings?  Whatever he is, it’s not that great.

In robot mode, Megatron is okay, but again, he doesn’t look like Megatron.  I really love Optimus Prime’s robot mode.  The metallic blue paint looks really nice.

It might be that he is based on Beast Hunters Megatron, a voyager toy who was recently found listed in a Walmart computer, but as we haven’t seen it, this is just a guess.  It wouldn’t really make a lot of sense since Optimus is based on G1 and not Beast Hunters.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.

Hey 🙂 If I had to guess, he’s based on the first release of the Cybertron Megatron figure. That huge thing turned into the Batmobile (he was huge) and there are elements of that in this vehicle mode SD design.
