Blog #343: Toy Reviews: Bot Shots Single Packs 2013 Wave 2 (Optimus Prime, Scourge, Brawl, Cliffjumper)

Before I get to the specifics, you can read my thoughts on the Bot Shots concept here, the online video game here, and the new 2013 Bot Shot types.

Optimus Prime

This is the first wave of Bot Shots to include toys based on Beast Hunters.  I really like the Optimus Prime.  He’s got a nice head sculpt and nice detailing on his vehicle mode.  The silver chrome looks great.  Unfortunately as he is a Jump Shot, he really can’t land on his feet when he transforms.

Spin Shot Scourge is the other Beast Hunters Bot Shot in this wave.  Vehicle mode is okay, but it’s hard to take a dragon on wheels seriously.  Robot mode isn’t bad.  I’m beginning to think there are some design issue with the Spin Shots.  It took me about a dozen tries to get him to stay in vehicle mode for a picture.

Flip Shot Brawl is a repaint of the Brawl from the 3-Pack.  Still one of my favorites, but he looked much better with gold treads.

Cliffjumper

Jump Shot Cliffjumper is a repaint of the Jump Shot Bumblebee with a new head.  He is a Super Bot, so he’s done in translucent red plastic.  He is the first Super Bot not to use the original design.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
