At San Diego Comic Con it was revealed that the series of Asia only exclusive Generations toys (at least most of them as it doesn’t look like we are getting the G1 deco Leaders Ironhide and Starscream, while Brawl seems to have been canceled completely) would be coming to Toys R Us this fall. I can’t find any significant differences with the Asian versions (accept for a slight paint change on Springer’s sword, but I can’t confirm if it’s a wide change or just a random production Error). I previously reviewed the Legends (Bluestreak, Hoist, Motorbreath, and Thundercracker), Deluxes (Cliffjumper, Springer, Swerve, and Wheelie), and Scouts (Brawl, Dead End, Laserbeak, and Sandstorm). The Voyagers have been very hard to find in stores, and I have just recently acquired Hot Spot, Megatron, and Powerdive.
Transformers Generations Voyager Megatron
Mold Used: Megatron is repainted from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Bludgeon with a new head.
Vehicle Mode: Megatron is an homage to the G2 green tank Megatron. I love the tank mode. The green and purple looks great, but I don’t know why he needed the orange panels on the sides. I’d have left the green or maybe made them a darker green.
Robot Mode: In robot mode, his head is far better proportioned than the Botcon 2012 Gigatron head that was put on this mold. If you read my blog about Gigatron, you know about the Quality Control issues. I am happy to say that Megatron’s legs don’t fall off. However, his hip joints are still incorrectly assembled. His right hip ratchets while his left hip doesn’t. I really wish Hasbro would get with it.
Overall: I love G2 toys and homages, so I do like this toy, but the fact that Hasbro still can’t get it assembled correctly really sucks.
Thanks for reading!
