Blog #248: Toy Review: Asia Exclusive Transformers Generations Scout Sandstorm

At San Diego Comic Con it was revealed that the series of Asia only exclusive Generations toys (at least most of them as it doesn’t look like we are getting the G1 deco Leaders Ironhide and Starscream, while Brawn seems to have been canceled completely) would be coming to Toys R Us this fall.  I haven’t seen Voyagers yet, but I’ve seen the rest.  I can’t find any significant differences with the Asian versions (accept for a slight paint change on Springer’s sword, but I can’t confirm if it’s a wide change or just a random mistake).  I previously reviewed the Legends (Bluestreak, Hoist, Motorbreath, and Thundercracker) and Deluxes (Cliffjumper, Springer, Swerve, and Wheelie) that I picked up from the Asian release.  I have just picked up a set of the TRU exclusive Scouts (Brawl, Dead End, Laserbeak, and Sandstorm).

Mold Used: Sandstorm is repainted with no mold changes from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Scout Dune Runner.

Vehicle Mode: I really like this mold, but the sides of the vehicle don’t seem to clip in place, unless I’m transforming it wrong.  (Possible, but I don’t think so.)  It’s really nicely painted as Sandstorm.  My only complaint is that it is virtually impossible to get the two cannons on his roof straight.  They want to skew a bit no matter how you position them.

Robot Mode: The robot mode is nice, but I wish the cannons were mounted on his shoulders rather than his upper arms.  Nice overall though.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
