I’ve put up reviews of all four Micro-Change Combiners, Bruticus, Devastator, Predaking, and Superion. There are links to my other Kre-O blogs at the end of the review.
Transformers Kre-O Micro-Changers Combiner Superion (Skydive, Silverbolt, Air Raid, Firestrike)
Skydive
Skydive is one of the better Micro-Changers. He looks pretty great in both modes.
Silverbolt
He’s got a nice robot mode, and I see what they were going for with his vehicle mode, but it just isn’t very good. They would have been better off just making him a more traditional plane rather than trying to make a him Concord. I appreciate the effort, but they crashed and burned.
Air Raid
Easily my favorite from this set, he looks really great. I like the gun he has in robot mode.
Firestrike
It is unfortunate that they don’t have the name Fireflight anymore. I like him in both modes and the guns under his wings look great.
Superion
These combiners are awesome. For Superion they even went so far as to include a sticker that looks just like the red waist piece from G1 Superion. Those are the kind of details that wins Hasbro points with me every time. The only thing that is a problem, and it is on all the combiners, is the lack of real hands. The Kreon legs aren’t awful. You’re dealing with a limited number of parts, so I can forgive the hands.
Overall: One of the best things about this set is that none of the individual members have a piece covering up the art on their chests. This is a fantastic set, and at $10-$12, you really can’t beat the price. It should also be noted, that Quickslinger, AKA Slingshot, is available in the first wave of Micro-Changer blind buys to complete the team.
Here are my previous reviews of the 2011 and 2012 Kre-O sets, Micro-Changers Preview and First Series, and the Toys R Us exclusive Ironhide. Here are links to the newest Kre-O toy reviews, Beast Blade Optimus Prime, Battle Net Bumblebee, Dragon Assault, Mech Venom Strike, and Ripclaw Strike.
