Blog #2284: Toy Review: Transformers: Collaborative: Street Fighter II Hot Rod (Ken) vs. Arcee (Chin-Li)

Transformers: Collaborative: Street Fighter II Hot Rod (Ken) vs. Arcee (Chin-Li)

Arcee (Chun-Li)

Previous Mold Use: Thrilling Thirty Deluxe Class Arcee, SDCC 2015 Combiner Hunters Deluxe Class Arcee, Platinum Edition Deluxe Class Arcee, Botcon 2016 Club Subscription Service 5.0 Deluxe Class Lifeline, The Movie: Studio Series Deluxe Class Arcee

Arcee looks awesome as Chun-Li. She has really great paint apps.

Hot Rod (Ken)

Previous Mold Use: Titans Return Deluxe Class Hot Rod, Legends Deluxe Class Hot Rod

Hot Rod looks great as Ken. He has a great paintjob, especially on his head, but I do not understand the mold choice. They used the Transformers Legends Targetmaster Hot Rod mold. When Takara remolded Hot Rod they gave him a blockier torso. I think the Hasbro version of the mold would have looked better, his torso would have looked more human. My guess is they used this one so they could do the flesh colored part in center of his chest. The Hasbro version had molding here, but they could still have painted that flesh colored.

Overall: I never bought the original release of this set, mostly because I thought it was stupid, and honestly, it is stupid, but these are pretty great toys. At $75 this set is super overpriced for two Deluxe Class toys that came out at, if I remember correctly, $15 each, I think. Been a while, even if they were $20, this set is overpriced.

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
