Surprise, surprise, Ultra Magnus has Optimus Prime’s accessories repainted. I have zero enthusiasm for reviewing this toy.

I get doing repaints, but the “Let’s-repaint-Optimus-Prime-in-white-as-Ultra-Magnus!” thing has run it’s course and then some. I would rather have a Nemesis Prime. I am actually shocked that this repainting Optimus Prime white thing wasn’t IDW’s fault. It seems the kind of thing It Don’t Work would have done, but it was actually Dreamwave that decided Ultra Magnus was a white Optimus Prime wearing armor in 2003. Funny enough, in 2003 Armada Deluxe Class Optimus Prime was repainted white as Ultra Magnus. Not sure which came first, but I *think* those two-packs came out towards Christmas, and the comic came out in September, so I think it was the comic. As near as I can tell this was the first time an Optimus Prime toy was repainted white as Ultra Magnus without a trailer to make him actually look like Ultra Magnus. (I’m only counting main line toys, not stuff like this.) I’m like 90% sure of that, though I might be forgetting something. Enough is enough. They couldn’t paint him gold as “The Golden Lagoon Optimus Prime”? How about a movie battle damaged version? If instead of Ultra Magnus they put the name “Hate Plague Optimus Prime” on the box I would actually like it more, or at all.

Overall: Does anyone give a shit? I know I don’t.
