Toys R Us (Japan) Exclusive Transformers: Movie Advanced EZ Collection Clear Optimus Prime

This was a give away at Toys R Us in Japan.  It’s a repaint of Legend (EZ Collection in Japan) G1 Optimus Prime in red, black, and translucent Red.

This toy illustrates one of my biggest complaints about translucent toys.  If you’re going to make them translucent, make them as translucent as possible.  Why the black plastic is not translucent, I don’t know.

There are certain parts that cannot be translucent, as translucent plastic tends to break easily, and parts that will be under stress during transformation need to be opaque, but there are a number of parts on him, most notably his legs, that could have easily been translucent.

Overall: He was only $10, so if you can get him at that price, he’s cool, but he’s really nothing special.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
