Transformers: Movie Advanced (Age of Extinction) Leader Optimus Prime (AD-31)

This is the Japanese remold and repaint of the Age of Extinction Leader Class Optimus Prime.  Please read my review of the original here and the version from the Platinum Edition set here.

This is Takara’s version of Silver Knight Optimus Prime, called Armor Knight Optimus Prime.  That’s a much better name, since I don’t think he turned silver in the movie.  He’s much more accurate to how Optimus looked later in the movie.  His blue plastic and red flames are both metallic, and he looks amazing.  They’ve given him a completely new shield and sword, which look really great.  I love the orange sword.  His forearms have been remolded to show the “knight” tapering, I don’t know what it’s called.  He has a completely new robot chest and in vehicle mode his hubcaps are chromed.  He’s got a blue stripe down the front of his grill.  The coolest change is the new head sculpt.  You can flip up his face and the center of his head and rotate a piece inside so that he has either the mouth of faceplate.  It’s really cool, and such a simple mechanism, it kind of sucks that we don’t get this feature on all movie Optimus Prime toys.

Overall: This one is an absolute must.  At $80, it’s not horribly priced.
