Tank Mode:  Blitzwing’s tank mode looks awesome.  He’s nicely colored and has great details.  Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving, and in this case the outward awesome is covering up for some major flaws.  His treads don’t properly connect to the middle of the tank.  The tabs that connect them both at the top and bottom of the treads are poorly designed, so while he looks nice, if you handle him at all, these pop out.  Similarily his robot arms become the sides of the turret, and they don’t clip in very well either, though it’s better than the treads.

Jet Mode: His jet mode looks at least as good, maybe better than the tank outwardly.  It’s flaws are different than the tank.  He seems to hold together better, but there is a big void in the back of the jet.  It’s covered up by his sword on top which the gun connects to, but from the back it’s just a big open area.  This doesn’t bother me as much as the tank mode though.

Robot Mode: Robot mode is probably Blitzwing’s best mode.  He looks perfectly G1 in coloring and design.  I like that they included both the gun and sword.  He does have a few flaws here as well though.  His hips seem very loose.  Might just be that way on mine.  It’s not awful, but his upper body is heavy enough that if you stand him with his torso pushed too far forward, he just pitches forward.  The other flaw has been widely reported online.  His shoulders don’t click in place, causing them to flip up when you try to rote his arm up.  If you hold the shoulder when you rotate the arm, it’s fine.  I did not get a picture of his other two faces.  They incorporated three faces like Transformer Animated Blitzwing.  That’s kind of cool I guess, but not very G1.

Overall: He looks so amazing, that it easily outweighs the molding issues.  I can’t imagine any G1 fan wouldn’t want this one.  It’s just too bad they didn’t keep him on the drawing board a little longer.  He’s a complicated toy, so I can’t say fixing the issue would have been easy, but I’ve got to believe it would have been possible.

Thanks for reading!

Hmmm the different shades of light brown and purple does bother me a bit. I actually waited few months for this. Seems like Im going to have to wait even longer for a second release when these flaws are corrected or hope Fanproject or some 3rd party can make their own version.
