Blog #229: Toy Reviews: Transformers Bot Shots Wave 5 (Megatron, Skywarp, Bumblebee, Roadbuster, and Shockwave)

Before I get to the specifics, you can read my thoughts on the Bot Shots concept here, on the online video game here, and one the wave one Launchers here.

Transformers Bot Shots Wave 5 Megatron, Skywarp, Bumblebee, Roadbuster, and Shockwave

There were a couple of gems in this final assortment.  You can complete both your G1 season one seekers set as well as your DotM Wreckers set.  We get a non-Chase version of truck Megatron, which looks great, and an awesome translucent purple version of Shockwave.  This might be overall one of the best waves, and I haven’t even talked about the best toy in the wave.

At first glance you might assume, the fifth toy is just another Bumblebee repaint, but you’d be wrong.  He is remolded and uses the original G1 toy Bumblebee face!  I think that might be the coolest thing in the entire Bot Shot line.  Most of the Bumblebees from the past few years are either movie or have vaguely G1 animation style heads (for the most part, I might be forgetting something).  I have to give Hasbro credit when they do something right.  Bumblebee is probably the most overdone character of the last ten years, but this might be the best (and only) homage to the original toy.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
