Blog #2799: Toy Review: Transformers: Retro: 40th Anniversary Bombshell and Ramhorn

Transformers: Retro: 40th Anniversary Bombshell and Ramhorn

The box has a flap and a window. Praise Primus! The box is a work of art unto itself. They have discontinued the Transformers: The Movie trade dress for a more G1 40th Anniversary theme. It looks great, and even with the box change they are continuing making the toys as animation accurate as possible.

Ramhorn

Previous Mold Review: Platinum Edition Ramhorn

Ramhorn is now G1 animation accurate including metallic gold replacing the silver chrome on his weapons, and most of his original paint apps removed. He doesn’t look great in cassette mode, but he’s awesome in robot mode.

Previous Review: Platinum Edition Bombshell

Bombshell is now sporting a G1 animation deco with his silver chrome replaced with metallic silver, and the purple on his chest replaced with gray. The purple on his legs is bow black and his chest is opaque yellow instead of translucent.

Overall: You can never have enough Insecticons. I’m not sure why Ramhorn was included, but he hasn’t been reissued in some time, so it’s a good opportunity to get him if you don’t have him.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
