Transformers Top Gun Maverick

There is a scene in Top Gun where Maverick and Goose (RIP) were at the airport playing with a couple of G1 Decepticon Jets, so I suppose it made sense to make Maverick, though I would have dug up he original Masterpiece Starscream mold.

Motorcycle

Since Tom Cruise rode a motorcycle in the movie, they have included one with Maverick. Seems pretty pointless.

Vehicle Mode: Maverick’s jet mode is much more realistic than the G1 jets, no fancy colors or Decepticon symbols. He looks great. His plastic is very high quality, and he’s quite sturdy.

Robot Mode: In robot mode Maverick looks pretty great. Unfortunately, the lack of color that worked so well in vehicle mode makes his robot mode look plain. It doesn’t help that his head looks so out of place. I know they were going for the look of his helmet, but it looks weird. They could have used some of those paint apps elsewhere.

Overall: Maverick is a little overpriced at $40, but Hasbro Pulse still has them in stock, so if you wait a while he’s likely to eventually go on clearance, and at a more palatable price, he’s well worth picking up.
