Transformers: Generations Selects Seacons God Neptune Gift Set (Coelagon, Halfshell, Scylla, Sea Phantom, Terrormander)
The only mold changes in this set is on Scylla, so I’m just going to focus on the new paintjobs. There is one problem with this set, and it’s not worth repeating in each review. The mold used for their hands seems to be showing some wear. One of the hand’s peg’s is too small for the ports. You can’t make that one a hand, because it will fall right off his wrist. Best you can do is make it the back of his foot, and don’t move him. Also, the joints on the fingers suck. In weapon modes, most of them won’t hold them up properly. I’m not sure how Takara managed to screw this up. Even if it’s just mold degradation, this isn’t acceptable. Takara used to have higher standards, but now they are just as low quality as Hasbro. Also of note is that the instructions do not show their gun modes. Takara didn’t include the parts for the gun modes from the G1 toys in the Beast Wars II release, but it seems pretty stupid not to include that in the instructions now since they have all the needed parts. They also should have included the sixth figure. I know he wasn’t in the original set, but it would have been cool to have him as part of the team at last. Just come up with a name and a deco that matches the set.
Coelagon
Previous Mold Use: Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Terrorcon Blot, Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Terrorcon Rippersnapper, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Nautilator, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Overbite, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Skalor
I love the gold and green on Coelagon’s beast mode. I just wish he had more gold in robot mode.
Halfshell
Previous Mold Use: Power of the Primes Voyager Class Hun-Gurrr, Selects Voyager Class Seacon Snaptrap
Halfshell looks great, but I just wish they had given him bronze chrome on the wings of his shield. Would have looked cool in robot mode.
Scylla
Previous Mold Use: Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Moonracer, Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Novastar, Siege Deluxe Class Chromia, Siege Deluxe Class Greenlight, Selects Deluxe Class Nightbird, Siege Deluxe Class Lancer, Netflix War for Cybertron Trilogy Deluxe Class Chromia, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Tentakil
Scylla’s robot mode had been completely remolded, legs, arms, torso, and head sculpt. Formerly a he and now a she, the new molding looks great. My only complaint is her paintjob. I‘m sure it probably accurate to the original, but she just looks boring. In beast mode her face is bronze, and she’s otherwise gray. In robot mode she has just a few gold and silver paint apps.
Sea Phantom
Previous Mold Use: Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Terrorcon Blot, Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Terrorcon Rippersnapper, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Nautilator, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Overbite
Overbite is okay in robot mode, but needed some more paint apps on his beast mode. He’s just very plain.
Terrormander
Previous Mold Use: Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Dinobot Swoop, Power of the Primes Deluxe Class Terrorcon Cutthroat, Selects Deluxe Class Seacon Seawing
Terrormander looks great in both modes. I love the colors. I think he’s my favorite of the set.
God Neptune
Previous Mold Use: Selects Combiner Seacon Piranacon
While some of his components needed more paint apps, God Neptune looks fantastic.
Overall: This is a good set, but unless you love Beast Wars II, Piranacon is many times better.
Thanks for reading!
