Blog #1712: Toy Review: Machine Robo Revenge of Cronos Eagle Steam (AKA Masterpiece Gobots Loco)

Machine Robo Revenge of Cronos Eagle Steam (AKA Masterpiece Gobots Loco)

I tried not to buy anymore Masterpiece Gobots, but I just can’t pass on a transforming train, and Steam, AKA Loco, is a really great toy.

Loco’s alternate mode is a Japanese JNR Class D51 steam locomotive. What I find very cool is that he’s not just any JNR Class D51 steam locomotive, but his #D-5147 is an actual JNR Class D51 that is now preserved in a park in Japan. Many Transformers use real world alternate modes, but other than some of the race cars, I can’t think of any Transformers that are based on a specific iteration of real a life vehicle. His steam engine mode looks great. In robot mode he has a great head sculpt and D-5147 on his chest just like the original toy.

Thanks for reading!

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
