So, this is very odd. This set of McDonald’s toys seems to have been less planned, than thrown together without much thought.
This box is from Asia. It uses the Authentics/Evergreen/Cyberverse Bumblebee face. (I still don’t know what the hell “Evergreen” is supposed to be.) However, it does not say Authentics, Evergreen, or Cyberverse anywhere on the box. I would consider this part of the Transformers 2018 series.
This is the American McDonald’s box. It’s clearly a Bumblebee movie item. The toys are obviously based on Cyberverse or Evergreen designs, but don’t say that on their packaging. So I’m considering the toys under Transformers 2018 for lack of anything better.
Bumblebee is pretty cool. For a McDonald’s toy he has decent paint apps. I like his head sculpt, but I wish he didn’t have the silly smile.
With a few paint apps, Bumblebee’s car mode might not be too bad, but as is, he’s very plain.
Grimlock is kind of awesome. I’m just not sure why he’s green.
Megatron is a wind up toy. He’s not great.
Optimus Prime looks great. His paint apps are excellent and so is his head sculpt.
Shockwave looks okay. His head sculpt is great.
Starscream pretty much sucks. The tank acts like a launcher. I have no idea why.
Holy crap that’s a lot of paint apps. Too bad we couldn’t get some of them on Bumblebee instead of wasting them on Windblade.
Overall: It’s a much better series of toys than some from the last few years. Still not great though.
