Blog #1432: Toy Review: Transformers: Legends Deluxe Slugslinger & Targetmaster Caliburst

Transformers: Legends Deluxe Slugslinger & Targetmaster Caliburst

Legends Deluxe Slugslinger is repainted from Transformers: Generations Deluxe Slugslinger. Headmaster Slugslinger is repainted from Titan Master Caliburst. He comes with a new mold Targetmaster. Read my review of the USA Slugslinger & Caliburst here.

Headmaster Slugslinger

Headmaster Slugslinger is not all that different Titan Master Caliburst. Caliburst was one of the only Hasbro Titan Masters to be properly painted.

Caliburst looks great. I love these Targetmasters.

Unlike most of the Titans Return line, Slugslinger had paint apps rather than stickers, so this is one of the rare case, where I think the USA version is the better looking toy. It’s also closer to the G1 toy in overall color. I really do like the Japanese version’s blue, though it is less accurate. I wish his gray robot parts had been white like many of the other Legends Headmasters. I really like the gold painted circles on his chest. I wish the Hasbro version had those.

Overall: The USA version is the overall better one, but you can’t go wrong with the Japanese version for the Targetmaster.

Thanks for reading!

I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.

The Japanese version here is actually closer to the Japanese Headmasters cartoon. To say it is less accurate is not exactly true. For me I thought the hasbro version was super bland. I hate to be a pessimist but toy colors have been done before. I’m glad takara did gave us G1 anime colors because it’s rare that anyone ever did it.
