When I first saw these reported at Toy Fair, I thought it was some kind of joke.  Hasbro might have achieved a new level of stupid with these Alt-Modes.  What these are is a large head with an Autobot or Decepticon logo on top.  If you pull the logo up it makes them “transform” and I use that word loosely.  They go from tiny vehicle with enormous head on top to tiny body with an enormous head.  I could barely make them stand up in robot mode as the legs are not held in place.  They just flip down and fold up when the internal mechanism spins around, so there is no ratcheting to hold them in place, and the weight of the head makes them fall right over unless you can balance them just so.  They really suck.  The transformations sometimes get stuck, especially the Megatron.  The molding and painting of the faces isn’t bad, but not much else to say about them.  Unfortunately, there will be a series two, but hopefully that will be it.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.

    Worst. Toy. Ever.

  3. Of all the G1 characters they could do, they did a Nemesis Prime, who isn’t actually even G1?

The pictures look cool, with the autotransformation and all – and reasonably accurate modes. If you ignore the huge heads, of course. It’s like so much Hasbro has been doing lately. (“Lately”?) Some parts of the idea sound cool, and some parts sound ret…, uh, mentally deficient. And the execution combines them into a stupid whole.

Hasbro needs to keep the people who give the good ideas, fire the ones who consistently give the stupid ideas, and put the ones in charge who give the good ideas so they have the authority to reject the stupid ones before some Peter Principle manager decides to implement them.
