Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015) Powered Heroes Wave 1 (Bumblebee with Buzzstrike & Sideswipe with Windstrike)
I am reluctantly referring to these as Powered Heroes. That is the name they are solicited under, but that does not appear on the package. With Three Step Changers, who were solicited as Hyperchange Heroes, the name Three Step Changers is on the box. There is no such name on the box for this price point/class of toy. Fuck you Hasbro. Name your damn toy classes already.
I’m going to review these together since there isn’t much to say about them.
Bumblebee and Sideswipe are essentially slightly larger Three Step Changers with lights, Sounds, and a Mini-Con. They aren’t awful toys, but at $30 each, they are definitely overpriced. They actually look pretty great in car mode, but have hardly any paint apps. Properly painted they would look really nice. Robot modes don’t look bad at all. Both Mini-Cons are pretty lousy. Buzzstrike attaches to Bumblebee with his back facing out, which is hollow and has no molding details In robot mode he looks like a preschool toy. Windstrike looks like a headless robot with a sword sticking out his neck. He doesn’t look bad in robot mode, but when attached to Sideswipe’s chest, he sticks up in front of his face. For completists only.
