Transformers: Adventures (Robots in Disguise) Deluxe Drift Origin Mode vs. Jazz Battle Mode (TAVVS05)

Read my reviews of the original Robots in Disguise Warrior Class Drift and Jazz.

Drift Origin Mode

Drift has been repainted in the color scheme of the original Generations Deluxe Drift.  He also has a new head sculpt, which looks amazing.  To be honest, I think this toy looks way better in these colors than the original black and orange.

Jazz Battle Mode

I was really disappointed with deplorable paint job on the USA version of Jazz.  This version has a new head that looks a lot more like G1 Jazz with a visor, but the paint job is what makes this toy great.  The Japanese version has blue strips continued on the roof and back of the car, as well as paint on the grill and an Autobot logo on the hood.  The Hasbro version is a joke.  In robot mode the paint details are much better on the Japanese version, with the sole exception of the red stripe along the bottom of his chest.  I kind of like that on the USA version, but in all other ways the Japanese version is a better toy.

Overall: This set has both the best version of Jazz and Drift we are going to see.  I highly recommend it.

I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
