Blog #485: Toy Reviews: Transformers Constructbots Scouts Bumblebee & Thundercracker

Transformers Constructbots Scouts Bumblebee & Thundercracker

If you’ve been reading my blogs, then you may remember that the original shipment of Constructbots Starscreams had incorrectly painted heads.  When I bought Bumblebee and Thundercracker, I also picked up another Starscream.  I got one that had the same code stamped into the box as Thundercracker (meaning they likely came from the same case).  It has a correctly painted head.  It is possible they fixed this prior to the release of Bumblebee and Thundercracker, but all I can say for sure is that if you want a correctly painted Starscream head, buy one from the case that includes BB and TC.

Bumblebee, like most car Constructbots, isn’t great in vehicle mode.  He’s not awful, but nothing special.  I do like his robot mode.  Not sure I like the head sculpt though.  The helmet is fine, but the face just doesn’t look like Bumblebee.  The yellow and blue look really nice, but I kind of would have preferred they use yellow and black.

Since Constructbots parts are easily interchangeable, they elected not to make Thundercracker a straight repaint of Starscream.  I really like the jet mode.  Overall the jets have been much better than the land vehicles.  I think this type of toy just lends itself better to a winged vehicle than a wheeled one.  I really like the classic Thundercracker colors (accept the black of course).  Looks really nice.

Thanks for reading!

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
