Blog #3043: Toy Review: Transformers: Age of the Primes United Monster Pretender Monstructor (Birdbrain, Bristleback, Icepick, Scowl, Slog, Wildfly)

Transformers: Age of the Primes United Monster Pretender Monstructor (Birdbrain, Bristleback, Icepick, Scowl, Slog, Wildfly)

Birdbrain

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Core Class Sludge, Legacy United Core Class Rairyu

Until I got Birdbrain in robot mode I did not real he was remolded from Sludge. He has a new animal head, robot head, robot chest, and dinosaur back feet. I’m kind of impressed with the paint apps. He’s very well painted.

Bristleback

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Core Class Scarr, Legacy United Core Class Gairyu

Bristleback’s creature head actually looks more like his pretender shell monster had than his inner robot head. In creature mode he has had the spikes/bumps on his back and sides altered. In robot mode his legs are remolded, as is his robot chest. He also has a new robot head.

Icepick

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Core Class Grimlock, Legacy United Core Class Goryu

In robot mode Icepick has a new head and new hands, and in creature mode a new head, but his transformation is completely different. However, his transformation is completely different.

Scowl

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Core Class Snarl, Legacy United Core Class Doryu

I would never have imagined Scowl was remolded from Snarl. He uses Snarl’s chest, arms, upper legs, and waist. Everything else is new, as is how he transforms.

Slog

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Core Class Slag, Legacy United Core Class Kakuryu

Clog reuses Slag’s chest, waist, lower legs, arms, and dinosaur back. Everything else is new.

Wildfly

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Core Class Swoop, Legacy United Core Class Yokuryu

Wildfly has new robot and creature heads, robot chest, thighs and forearms.

Monstructor

Previous Mold Use: Legacy Evolution Combiner Volcanicus, Legacy United Combiner Dinoking

Monstructor looks great in robot mode. Most notably he has a new head and chest.

Overall: Monstructor is very cool. It’s just hard for me to get too enthused about another Legends Class combiner. Both Monstructor and Dinoking deserve full size toys with pretender shells, or based on their pretender shells. I’m not going to hold my breath.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
