Transformers Masterpiece Generations Optimus Prime (MPG-17)

I have a real bone to pick with Hasbro and Takara about this toy. What idiot decided we needed another G1 Masterpiece Optimus Prime? This bullshit about it being “Generations Style” is asinine. A Generations style Optimus Prime IS a G1 Optimus Prime. What makes him Generations Style? A few extra weapons? There are still first year G1 characters we don’t have Masterpiece toys of, not to mention second year and movie characters, but rather than doing one of them we get this bullshit “Generations Style” Optimus Prime. Look, I get it. Optimus Prime toys sell. But give me a fucking break. This toy has no reason to exist. It’s just another G1 Optimus Prime. I find it inferior to the third version Masterpiece Optimus Prime and the second one. There is nothing wrong with it, but this could have been two G1 Minibots or a Movie Cyclonus, or damn near anything else. We did not need another G1 Masterpiece Optimus Prime.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this toy. It’s a pretty cool looking Optimus Prime.

Overall: I give up.
