Blog #2940: Toy Review: Transformers: HasLabs Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus

Transformers: HasLabs Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus

This is one of the most disappointing toys Hasbro has ever released. I had to look up comparison pics to convince myself they hadn’t just reissued the original toy. Is it different? Yes. Is it different enough for me to give a shit? No. All they did is take the original design and tweak it. Sure, it’s not the same molding, but the toy is so much like the original I question why they bothered to make it at all. Truly if you put one of them in front of me and gave me three seconds to guess which one I was looking at, I could only make a guess. Bluebolts adds nothing to the toy at all. I would have preferred and original style weapon. Everything I said goes for Ultra Magnus as well, though I think I actually like the original Ultra Magnus better than this one, but they are so similar, I find it hard to care. This is such a let down. I don’t have it in me to do a photo by photo review. Pics are below. Comparisons are to the reissue. I have nothing more to say.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
