Blog #2226: Transformers Artifact of the Week: Transformers: Generation One Zipper Clip Slag

Transformers Artifact of the Week: Transformers: Generation One Zipper Clips

Before I get to my latest acquisition, lets look at the first HG Toys Zipper Clips from 1984, Starscream and Wheeljack.

These two were released in 1984 and are basically the same design as the HG toys Stamp Bots.

This Optimus Prime Zipper Clip was released in 1986. The packaging is different from the first two, but Optimus Prime is still the same design as his Stamp Bot. Until last year I thought those were the only ones, and then a Slag Zipper Clip on an Italian card showed up on eBay. It was not cheap, but I finally pulled the trigger on it.

The seller had not seen any other Italian carded Zipper Clips, I have no idea if the Optimus Prime came out in Italy, or if the Slag came out in the USA, but if they exist, I would love to find them both. I need to find a loose Optimus Prime in better condition, and a loose Slag.

As always, you can find over 18,000 Transformers artifacts from every Transformers series and generation at TFMuseum.com.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
