Transformers: Kingdom: Deluxe Class Slammer

Slammer

Vehicle Mode: Eight years after Metroplex was released, we get his partner Slammer as a Weaponizer. Supposedly he can become a tower as part of Metroplex, but after eight years, I do not care. This toy is eight years too late to matter. Having said that, his vehicle mode is really great. The way they painted his treads looks awesome. Rarely do we get the treads painted a different color than the wheels. While he looks great, he has far more color that the all gray and white G1 toy, so they clearly were not going for accuracy. Maybe not a bad thing in this case.

Robot Mode: Slammer’s robot mode is okay, but nothing spectacular. I kind of like his head sculpt, but other than that, he’s just not that interesting. He is not very well proportioned.

Weaponizer Mode: Unlike all the other Weaponizers (I believe) Slammer’s instructions only show one Weaponizer mode for him. Pipes is not the best bot to use, but he was handy when I needed to take the picture. The peg on his back is high up, so the backpack sits high. Still, you get the idea.

Overall: Slammer is pretty cool in vehicle mode, but his other modes are fairly pedestrian. Even in tank mode he is better than the one that came with Metroplex, so it you care after eight years, he may be worth picking up.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
