Transformers: Generations: Siege Walmart Exclusive 35th Anniversary Voyager Optimus Prime

Previous Mold Use: Siege Voyager Optimus Prime

Rather than giving us a non battle damaged version of Siege Optimus Prime, Hasbro decided to give us this. The box calls it Classic Animation. I’ve also heard it referred to as “cell shaded”. It’s not a bad looking toy, but I would have preferred a more standard G1 animation paint job without the battle damage of the original toy. I do prefer the lighter colors on this mold. It would have made a great G1 animation Optimus Prime without the cell shading affects.

Overall: I’ll give Hasbro credit for trying something new that’s not a bad idea, but this just isn’t working for me. I had hell of a time finding the 35th Anniversary toys. I finally ordered them for pickup from a Walmart who had them in stock only to be told they wouldn’t be ready for a week. I cancelled the order and went to that Walmart to find them on the shelf. The incompetence of Walmart is staggering. Also, as an FYI, the Walmart I got them at had put the 35th Anniversary toys in the seasonal department for some reason.

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
