Transformers: Studio Series Voyager Optimus Prime (2007 Movie)

Optimus Prime (2007 Movie)

Optimus Prime has been heavily remolded, so much so, that until I looked at them side by side I thought it was a completely new mold. They have remolded as much as they kept. You can see in his forearms and legs that he is the same base old as the Revenge of the Fallen version. This version is supposed to be for the 2007 movie. In robot mode he has a new chest and upper abdomen. The outsides of his lower legs are different, his shoulders are new, and as you can see from the wheels on his hips, even the way they transform is different. He also has a new “backpack”. Considering all the remolding, while the parts and seams are different he is pretty much the same truck. The only major difference is his fuel tanks and some kibble on the sides of the vehicle behind his front fenders. I like the brighter paint job better than the original, and he has a new weapon that is based on his “buster” weapon first included with the Takara Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Buster Optimus Prime and most of it’s repaints and remolds. What is really strange about this toy is that, while it is supposed to be the 2007 Movie version, it is meant to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Revenge of the Fallen. That it includes he Revenge of the Fallen gun is certainly one way in which that makes sense. The other is that he can combine with Studio Series Leader Jetfire to make Jetpower Optimus Prime. Read my review of Studio Series Jetpower Optimus Prime.

Overall: I think I like this Optimus Prime better than the first version, but it is odd that we aren’t really getting a 2007 Movie toy of Optimus Prime in this line, as this one is really a second Revenge of the Fallen toy. Weird choice by Hasbro.

I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
