Blog #1441: Toy Review: Transformers: Robots in Disguise: Kre-O Custom Kreons Wave 2 (Armor Up Bumblebee, Blizzard Strike Bumblebee, Armor Up Grimlock, Blizzard Strike Optimus Prime, Armor Up Sideswipe, Night Strike Sideswipe)

Transformers: Robots in Disguise: Kre-O Custom Kreons Wave 2 (Armor Up Bumblebee, Blizzard Strike Bumblebee, Armor Up Grimlock, Blizzard Strike Optimus Prime, Armor Up Sideswipe, Night Strike Sideswipe)

These Custom Kreons are very different from the previous Custom Kreons series. Instead of additional weapons and parts, these come with parts to extend their arms and legs as well as weapons and armor. Each one comes in Armor Up, Blizzard Strike, and Night Strike versions. Only six of the twelve are currently out. These things are crazy hard to find. None of the package fronts specify which version of the toy is in the package, so you have to look at the deco to figure out which one you have.

Armor Up & Blizzard Strike Bumblebee

Bumblebee looks pretty cool. In addition to his armor and extended limbs he has dual shoulder cannons. I prefer Armor up Bumblebee, but the blizzard strike version looks really cool with the translucent parts. Interestingly they gave the two versions different faces.

Armor Up Grimlock

Grimlock comes with a larger weapon that looks like it belongs with Age of Extinction Grimlock. He looks great with his armor on.

Blizzard Strike Optimus Prime

Blizzard Strike Optimus Prime looks really great with his armor on. I think he’s supposed to have smokestacks on his back, though they don’t look much like smokestacks. They will probably look better on the Armor Up version as they will be in silver.

Armor Up and Night Strike Sideswipe

I really like Armor Up Sideswipe. The sais seem like an odd weapon choice, but he looks great, especially with his armor on. The colors on the Night Strike version look awesome.

Overall: These things were crazy hard to find. I’ve been trying to track these down for almost a year. I finally went the eBay route, and way overpaid for them. If you can find them at retail price, they are very cool. Not sure they are worth eBay prices.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
