Read my review of the original version of this toy here.

In addition to the weapons that came with the original toy, he now has a large sword as well as two pieces to be handles for longer weapons.

As they have done with many Optimus Prime toys before, this one ahs been repainted in red and black instead of red and blue.  The new sword looks great.  He has had quite a bit of remolding, a new head sculpt, a new chest and shoulders, new forearms, new lower legs, and new hip guards.  He now has more standard hands.  The remold of his forearms removed the weapon ports that would flip out into his hands so he could hold weapons.  It does however have a small issue.  If you look on top of the can, you’ll notice the left and right sides do not line up properly.  There is no peg, unfortunately, and no matter what I do I can’t get them to align.  Since the original didn’t have this it doesn’t seem like it’s a design problem.  Could be that it’s just a defective part, I’m just not sure if it’s just mine or a problem with all of them.  I like this version better than the original for the mold changes, but I wish it was in standard red and blue rather than the red and black.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.

  1. The new chrome looks great. Unlike as we see too often, the chrome really accents him, rather than just being gaudy.
