Vehicle Mode: Sideswipe is almost perfect in vehicle mode.  The only problem is their complete failure to match the red paint on some of his parts with the red plastic.  This is hardly the first time that Hasbro has had this problem, but it’s such a shame because he is otherwise perfect.

Robot Mode: If anything his robot mode is better than his vehicle mode.  In robot mode Sideswipe’s bad paint matching is hardly noticeable.  He has an absolutely perfect head sculpt.

Overall: I am pretty sure Sideswipe is the best RID toy yet.  He’s an absolute must.  I almost want Hasbro to do some kind of Platinum set of these toys that are properly painted.

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.

Hey! Thanks for the review, but I see you didn’t mention the ever-apparent shoulder issue with this guy. Did you get the ONE figure that doesn’t do that perhaps? I’m interested in the repaint, but not if the QC is still awful.
