Transformers Generations Leader Jetfire
Vehicle Mode: Holy crap. He looks absolutely amazing. I wish there was a way to mount his gun between his boosters rather than under the jet nose, but it looks cool there. The chrome looks fantastic. A perfect G1 Jetfire. One thing I didn’t take a picture of, I left his armor on essentially the way the G1 toy works, with his arms cannons on his arms under the fuselage. They can also be mounted under his wings.
Robot Mode: I must admit, I would kind of like to have this toy with a head sculpt more like Skyfire. I don’t see that happening since he would be otherwise unchanged, but it would be nice. As it is, I love it as Jetfire. The only thing I would change is the chrome on his guns. If you look on the package the cannon barrels are black with the back on the cannons being red chrome. I would kind of like that better, but it’s not a huge thing.
Update: Apparently he does have Skyfire’s face. The face that looks like Jetfire is meant to be a helmet. I missed that completely. Thanks to Mike H. for pointing that out.
Overall: I am glad that Hasbro is going back to Leader class toys. Even better, we will be getting two different Megatrons. Hasbro has previously said that Leader toys, especially Decepticons, don’t sell. Honestly that is mainly because too many of those toys have sucked (Revenge of the Fallen Jetfire being the perfect example of a toy that should have been awesome and flown off the shelves, but was totally crap). The 2010 Starscream wasn’t bad, but it was supposed to come out with Revenge of the Fallen, and the 2010 line was such a mess, I think people stopped caring.
