Blog #554: Toy Reviews: Transformers: Animated McDonald’s Mexican Jumpstarters Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream

Transformers: Animated McDonald’s Mexican Jumpstarters Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Starscream

Until I saw these on ebay a couple weeks back, I had never heard of them.  They came out in 2008 and were available in Brazil, Mexico, and Venezuela at McDonald’s.  They are similar to G1 Jumpstarters.

Optimus Prime

Optimus has a few more paint apps than the others, and looks pretty good (for what he is).  These toys are by no means great.

I will say that all of them have nicely painted faces.  The jump feature operates really well.  I haven’t had one fail to land on its feet yet.

You’ll notice my Bumblebee has a rubber band around him.  He doesn’t want to stay transformed.  I can’t tell if it’s a problem with the tension on the hook or the shape of the hook.

One thing that would have been nice is to give the “vehicle” mode some painted on windows or something.  Without that it just looks like a robot bent in half on it’s back.  You can insert any number of jokes here, but I’ll leave it alone. 🙂

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
