Blog #510: Toy Reviews: Transformers Construct Bots Elite Hound, Megatron, and Optimus Prime

Transformers Construct Bots Elite Hound, Megatron, and Optimus Prime

Please read my full review of the Optimus Prime and Megatron Construct Bots here.

It’s getting hard to review Construct Bots.  There really is only so much to say about them.  Hound however, is really well done.  They did a nice job with the vehicle grill as his chest and his head sculpt is amazing.  He has the shoulder missile, but unfortunately it is mounted on top of his arm.  His vehicle mode isn’t bad, though of course it looks nothing like a jeep.  Sadly, his grill in vehicle mode looks less like his G1 jeep grill than his robot mode chest.  They did do a nice job giving him the rear mounted gun.

Megatron now comes with a pair of swords.  He has been repainted with translucent purple, which looks pretty great.  His head has been remolded, keeping the same face, but giving him a more G1 looking helmet.  Unfortunately, it’s black instead of gray, which ruins the G1 look.

Optimus Prime

Optimus is the same mold as the Ultimate Optimus Prime accept for his head and gun (and that, Like Megatron, he does not come with all the extra parts).  His new gun is not a missile launcher.  While his head has been remolded, it’s not a huge change.  I really like the translucent red, but it would look better if the darker blue was also translucent.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
