Blog #180: Toy Review: Transformers: Prime Cyberverse Commander Ultra Magnus

The long overdue second wave of Transformers: Prime Cyberverse Commanders finally is hitting store shelves.  It includes, Nightwatch Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Ultra Magnus, and Dreadwing.

Transformers: Prime Cyberverse Commander Ultra Magnus

Vehicle Mode: Ultra Magnus’s vehicle mode isn’t anything special.  It is a flatbed truck with a cannon mounted on the back.  Not bad looking at all, just fairly plain, with the square cab and flat back.  The gun looks nice, it just feels too small for the space it’s supposed to be taking up.

Robot Mode: In robot mode, Ultra Magnus is a different story.  He looks really great, with a nice head sculpt and awesome hammer.  He is bulky looking, which he should be.  The only problem is, as with Dreadwing, he either has a design flaw or poor quality control.  His shoulder and elbow joint are so loose he can’t even hold up the hammer.  It’s really too bad such a nice looking toy has such a terrible flaw.

Overall: It’s just too nice not to have, even if it’s a design flaw and they all have loose arm joints.  Whether it is poor quality control or bad design they really ruined an otherwise excellent toy.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
