Blog #133: Toy Review: Transformers Prime Voyager Starscream

I picked up Transformers Prime Voyager Starscream this week.  I’ve been looking forward to this one.  I wasn’t disappointed.

Transformers Prime Voyager Starscream

Vehicle Mode:  Let’s ignore the gun for a moment.  The jet mode looks pretty great, though I don’t like how his robot chest makes up the top of the jet behind the cockpit.  Also, the sides of the tail don’t quite clip together very well.  Otherwise it’s really nice looking.  However, then you put the gun on and it might be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.  It’s looks like the jet has a giant mohawk.  They should have given him weapons similar to Transformers Dark of the Moon Starscream if he really had to have a MechTech style weapon.  He ahs landing gear, but it is very small and cannot be stowed.  Almost seems like they through it on as an afterthought.

Robot Mode:  He’s very show accurate and I love the head sculpt.  Unfortunately, he has one major design flaw.  His waist does not snap into place, so if you tip him forward, he flops down at the waist (Unless there is just something wrong with mine).  I will be keeping an eye out for a corrected version that does lock in place.  Also, they painted a black Decepticon logo on dark gray plastic on his shoulder, and you almost can’t see it.  He’s otherwise nicely painted and very show accurate to my recollection.

Overall, I really like this one.  I just hope they fix the problem with his waist.

Thanks for reading!

I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
