Blog #2045: Toy Review: Transformers: Cyberverse McDonald’s (2021) (Bumblebee, Grimlock, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Starscream)

Transformers: Cyberverse McDonald’s (2021) (Bumblebee, Grimlock, Megatron, Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Starscream)

This is the third series of Cyberverse McDonald’s toys, and the second in a row not to be available in the USA (at least not yet). Each toy has a lenticular plate inside their chest that tilts when you lower and raise their arm. It changes from their regular chest, to an intermediate picture to something else, either taking damage, or firing missiles or something. Grimlock has a flaming circle for some reason. This is a pretty crappy feature. It’s lenticular, it does not have to be mechanically tilted. They would look way better if they just put it on their chest and got rid of the gimmick. I could not get pictures of them with the different images showing. The coolest thing about them is really the little boxes hey come in. They have really nice art on them. Oddly, each box is a different size. Really strange, as something like this would normally have pretty uniform packaging. Pics are below with some comments on each figure. There really isn’t that much to say about them.

Bumblebee

Bumblebee has that same stupid expression as pretty much every Cyberverse Bumblebee toy.

Grimlock

Grimlock looks pretty cool. I like his face sculpt.

Megatron

Megatron’s legs appear to be about 20% too large for his body.

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime looks pretty good. His head seems like it’s been squished together from each side.

Ratchet

Ratchet is fine.

Starscream

Starscream has a great head sculpt.

Overall: These are nice, but if you don’t want to track them down from out of the USA, and they never get here, you won’t be missing much.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
