Blog #2041: Toy Review: Transformers: Generations: Retro Headmasters Deluxe Class Skullcruncher

Transformers: Generations: Retro Headmasters Deluxe Class Skullcruncher

A few words about the box. It’s gorgeous. A beautiful G1 box complete with box flap. When I saw pictures, I was thrilled that they were finally reissuing the G1 Headmasters! Then I realized what was actually in the boxes, and I was distinctively less excited. Having said that, at least they are repainted and not the same toys in new boxes.

Hasbro used the G1 toy accurate heads from the Transformers: Legends line, but they used the more G1 accurate paint jobs.

Previous Mold Use: Titans Return Deluxe Class Skullsmasher, Takara Legends Deluxe Class Skullcruncher, Titans Return Deluxe Class Krok

Finally, Skullcruncher got his name back! Skullcruncher is truly one of the great Transformer names, and Skullsmasher just isn’t the same. Skullcruncher has a much more G1 accurate paintjob, and uses the Takara Legends head. I did kind of like the painted rear claws and pink eyes of Titans Return Skullsmasher.

Overall: If you have this mold and aren’t a completist, then you can probably skip Skullcruncher, unless you just want to display him in the awesome box.

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
