Transformers: Kingdom: Deluxe Class Fossilizers Paleotrex
Paleotrex
Beast Mode: Paleotrex is a dinosaur skeleton. Yeah, I don’t get it either. I mean, I might get it if Hasbro bothered to put tech specs and character bios on the package so we can learn who the characters are. Absent of that, I don’t know if this toy is really great, or really stupid, but if we assume there is a logical and non-stupid reason he’s a skeletal dinosaur, then his dinosaur mode is pretty freaking awesome. I like the colors. They could have gone with a bone color skeleton, but this looks way cooler. I love the paint apps on his ribs and especially his teeth.
Robot Mode: Paleotrex looks awesome in robot mode (again, assuming there is a logical non-stupid reason he’s a skeletal dinosaur). I love the paint apps. He has a robot face as well as a battle mask, a really cool callback to the original Beast Wars toys. His battle mask is not a new design. It’s the skull on the original Optimus Primal’s mace weapon. More on that below.
Armor/Weapon Mode: Paleotrex and the other Fossilizers become weapons and armor for the other figures. These are the two configurations from the instructions. As you can see in one, Warpath is holding Paleotrex’s skull head as a weapon. While it’s nice to get that weapon, it should have come with Optimus Primal.
Overall: Paleotrex is pretty cool, but it remains to be seen whether Hasbro does anything with the character in the Netflix series to explain why he’s a skeletal dinosaur.
