Transformers: Bumblebee: Energon Igniters Power Series Wave 2 (Blitzwing, Optimus Prime, Shatter (Jet), Ratchet)

Energon Igniters Nitro Series and Energon Igniters Power Plus Series toys come with an Energon Core that can be used to propel Nitro Series, Power Plus Series, Power Series, and Speed Series toys. They also deploy weapons on all but the Speed Series. Energon Cores are interchangeable.

Blitzwing

Previous Mold Use: Transformers: Bumblebee: Energon Igniters Power Series Megatron

Blitzwing has a new head. Repainting Megatron into Blitzwing makes no sense. He would not have had Megatron’s tank mode with an earth jet as his third mode. The colors make even less sense. I understand the need for repainting, but at least Hasbro could try to make it make some sense.

Optimus Prime

Previous Mold Use: Transformers: Bumblebee: Energon Igniters Power Plus Series Optimus Prime

The original version of this mold from the Power Plus series was more of a G1 homage, but not really in G1 colors. This version is painted right, and even has the silver stripe around the front of the cab, but they’ve altered the mold to be less G1 accurate. Too bad, I’d have rather they done a straight repaint that would have been a great G1 version. Not bad looking at all, but it could have been a better toy without the remolding.

Shatter (Jet)

Vehicle Mode: Shatter’s jet mode is pretty great for a toy of this class. When the Energon Core is added it seems that it deploys air intakes under her wings. I would have preferred it deploy weapons.

Robot Mode: Her robot mode is okay, not great. Her arms are oddly shaped.

Ratchet

Vehicle Mode: Hasbro did a piss poor job painting Ratchet. They only bothered to paint one side of his vehicle mode. What absolute garbage. The mold looks pretty good, and they even gave him a door in back that when closed holds the back of the vehicle together, but that doesn’t fix the crappy paintjob.

Robot Mode: Ratchet’s robot mode is fine, but the paintjob is atrocious.

Overall: Considering how many series one Energon Igniters are sitting on the pegs, these may never end up at retail. I wouldn’t worry about that. If you want them, they will end up at discount stores soon enough.
