Blog #1401: Toy Review: Transformers Masterpiece Movie Optimus Prime

Transformers Masterpiece Movie Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime

Vehicle Mode: Eight different times I got Optimus Prime into vehicle mode as pictured. The first seven times I took him half way back to robot and tried again. No matter what I did, I couldn’t completely get him properly into truck mode. His smokestacks plug into an arm that swings out from under the cab. I couldn’t get them to peg in no matter what I did. If you look right below his windows you can see it is not flush with the top of the hood. The top and bottom of the side of the rear of the cab are not closed. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get him to fit together right. That is incredibly disappointing since he looks amazing. Very disappointing that he is so complicated that he can’t properly get into vehicle mode.

Robot Mode: In robot mode he looks awesome. He has a gun swords. His face can change from the mouth to a faceplate. He carries the Matrix in his chest. He has one design flaw. In robot mode you are supposed to be able to peg his gun with the swords attached onto his back. It won’t stay in place no matter what I do. The peg is too small for the port.

Overall: It is disappointing that I can’t display him in truck mode. For $100, I expect better. He also should have had lots of other accessories. Having said that, he’s too awesome to pass on, even just in robot mode.

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
