Hot Rod

Read my review of Transformers Age of Extinction Lockdown.

Vehicle Mode: Hot Rod is remolded from Age of Extinction Lockdown, but the remolding is so extensive that you have to look closely to see that they come from the same mold. His vehicle mode, while still a Lamborghini like Lockdown, is completely new. He looks great. I wish he had a few more red paint apps.

Robot Mode: Hot Rod has been so extremely remolded that he is taller than Lockdown. In robot mode you can see they have a couple pieces in common, the gray parts on his shoulders and neck, but beyond those it’s hard to tell they are related. Hot Rod looks great in robot mode. My only major complaint is that he does not have a weapon. That really sucks.

Overall: This is a great toy, and one of the better ones from the whole line. He has not been seen in stores yet (as far as I know) and was only briefly available on I was lucky to grab him when I did. Supposedly he will also be available from other outlets, possibly in different packaging. It is unfortunate that Hasbro chose to make one of the better toys in the line a hard to find exclusive. Also of note, he is the only Deluxe toy to have a bio on the back of the box. I do not know if the non exclusive packaging will include the bio or not.

Thanks for reading!

About lmb3

I’m 36 years old, and I work in network tech support for a public school system. I am a huge fan of Star Trek, Transformers, Harry Potter, and Marvel Comics as well as numerous other fandoms. I’m a big sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. I collect toys (mostly Transformers but other stuff too), comic books, and Red Sox baseball cards. I watch an obscene amount of television and love going to the movies. I am hopelessly addicted to Wizard Rock and I write Harry Potter Fanfiction, though these days I am working on a couple of different original YA novels.
